Is the Xbox360 worth it?

Posted by alfa995 - January 4th, 2011

Hello Newgrounds, right now I'm working on C. Crashing Frost King (I have around 40 seconds of animation done by now) but I wanted to ask everyone a question.

I've been wondering if it would be a good idea to get an Xbox360 (I only have a Wii...I know what you're thinking, stop it). They're not cheap, and there are lots of models, some with better storage, or better I don't know, it's just confusing, so my question is: Should I get an Xbox360?

If I did, I have to know there are going to be games I will like, I can't buy one just for Castle Crashers. I could google reviews about it, but no, I want to ask wise people with experience with it, and that's you.

Which are your favorite games? You've had any problems with your Xbox? That's it, thank you, and I'll see you later.

Is the Xbox360 worth it?

Well companies make their products imperfect to make more money with there newest version and i think you should wait a little bit maybe around 20 years or so :3

I'd say getting an Xbox is totally worth it, the only thing not worth it is Xbox Live, considering it's free on every other console. My Xbox stopped reading games so I sent it back and got it repaired for free, but I'm not sure if the latest Xbox has as many problems as the old one. Good luck making more Castle Crasher flashes :3

Also some good games are: Super Meat Boy, Castle Crashers, Halo, Gears of War.

:>

If you DO get one, you're probably going to find a lot of use for it. With Netflix add-ons, the ability to play MP3's from your music library while you play, and a shit ton of downloadable arcade games on top of an actually pretty stellar line-up, it'll be fun...but the biggest problem with the 360 is it overheats. If it's not cooling properly, over-exerted, or is placed in a spot where it can't breath well, you're probably going to get the red rings of death.

There's lots of fun games available for it that you can't get for Wii or PC...and luckily, we're in a spot in it's lifetime where they're still coming out with games, even though the Kinect could be bridging a gap between the 360 and the next gen console...

My point of view is and always has been PC games will never die. It's true...Remember when Playstation and Nintendo 64 were hot shit? Look where both of those consoles are now. That's what the future has in mind for the Wii and 360.

If you're going to get the 360 just to play Castle Crashers, I say skip it. You could much easily find a friend who already has a 360 and devise a plan to play CC with them at no expense to you. If you're going to get the 360 to do all kinds of 360 shit and play 360 games, then go for it.

tl:dr in one word: "Prioritize!" :D

Getting an Xbox 360 now isn't too smart, imo. Got mine in 07, I think, and enjoyed it for awhile, but now that the PS3 has gotten a bunch of exclusives and M$ is raising the price for online, I'd advise against it. As far as I know, Castle Crashers is out on PS3 now anyway.

Upgrade your PC for PC games.... A lot better than consoles.. even though i have all 3, i rarely play on them, xbox being one of the least. Generally I'll play on PS3 for a FF game, GT5, or some other PS3 only game... Not too many games make me sway for xbox 360, given the history of the system, I feel a little pissed every time I look at it. I play very few games on the 360 anymore because the ones that are console specific aren't really that great compared to the ones I play on the PS3... not that either system is really better, given the obvious advancement of the blu-ray drive in the PS3. (Heh...)... The wii i use the least by far.. I only really use it when a bunch of friends are over... so IMO, the 360 really isn't worth it because of the fact that any game made for the 360 will be on the PC and on the PC the game will look 10 times better than the game will on ANY CONSOLE.

So put the money you would to buy a 360 in to buying a new graphics card or start a computer build or something for your computer and play off your computer (The add-ons are generally free too.... instead of stupid MS points or money in general). The PC is just another world in it's own, so much better than any other console.

BTW, xbox still has about a 66% failure rate, the piece of junk.... my household has gone through 7 xbox 360s, 3 consoles, 7 RMA's, yes, the repair was free, but the materials to ship the damn thing weren't, and the customer service from freaking India didn't help either, so customer service sucks, a lot. 2 were xbox elite's and one was a reg xbox. My brother bought the new"er" version of it, which it's still made of the same china based junk and band-aids that the old ones were, so we're counting down till it red rings... though we don't even use it anymore for anything other than netflix. I could go on and on and on all day, but i feel like i've said enough. At the end of the day, it's whether or not you want to play a few games on it or not, a PC that can connect through HDMI to a TV is just better, the Kinect is a very innovative idea... but needs a lot more work IMO, it's not that i hate the xbox, i just don't use it for much any more and i don't see reason for it given the PC I built.

Be careful on this thread, i feel like it's going to be a console war soon... *sigh*... good luck on your decision.

I agree completely with Tenoe7. He summed up exactly what i was going to say.

PS3 fanboys
PC elitists
360 fanboys
I don't know why you bothered asking when these people exist.

And i have all 3 systems, i like them all, but xbox is supreme.

Don't do it, man. You'll play easier on the PC than the 360.

Well...

First off, you have to realize that the Wii and the 360 have a very different gaming demographic: the Wii is far more family oriented and is played by people of all ages. The 360 on the other hand is geared much more strongly toward first person shooters: Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War, there are even shooters mixed with RPG elements like Borderlands.

My point is that it ultimately comes down to what kind of genre you are into, if you like shooters, then the 360 is your console, and while the 360 does have RPG styled games like Fable, they are not as common (not to mention you could blow through Fable 2 AND 3 in about a month). If you like the many other types of games available for the Wii, including the Nintendo classics, then stick with your Wii.

On a side note, I've had an Xbox 360 for over a year now and its still in perfect condition, I have heard nothing about the LIVE price going up (though 50$ a year ain't cheap itself) Perhaps the new version of Xbox will have an even lower failure rate... Not to mention it looks really cool.

Yes, you would have a much bigger library of games to choose from and a bigger network of people playing online.

Dont get xbox 360 instead get a play station because you get free internet meaning you dont pay $50 a month to be online and you can watch movies and play the most epic games out there. but i think you should wait 20 years or so to buy it since motion crap and epic standing teabag!

so wait, you made all those movies and you've never even played it before?

Yeah, I have to watch gameplay videos on youtube to know how the bosses attack and how the stages look.

Think about it this way,

were you satisfied with PS2 or Xbox?
and
What kind of games do you like playing?

I own a 360, detest the thing. I am completely unhappy with the games that come out for it. I mean there are good games for it, but for the most part everything else is shit.
Just last week I finally was able to play a PS3 and I instantly fell in love,
360 fanboys will never admit it but the PS3 graphics are so much better.

Besides, the current console lifespan is coming to an end soon, waiting out a bit longer is also an option..

Xbox 360 is an American console. Many of the games I play are American. Castle Crashers is definitely my personal favorite.

its definetly worth it.but if your not going to get xbox live its not.ive been on xbox live for 2 years and have hade a xbox for 4 years.my xbox only broke 1 time but i got a new one.my favorite game is either modern warfare 2 or black ops.the first time i got xbox live i was adictid to it for a year.so its worth it

Do get the XBOX 360. Playstation can not really come up with anything origional anymore. The Move system is an almost direct copyoff of wii. Although, the XBOX 360 came up with the kinect, which uses a 3D camera, a much more origional idea. As for style. Playstation 3s really cost 400 dollars. While you can buy a 360 and a Kinect for one as 299. Although, PC is best, you should get an XBOX360.

PS: Join me in the Youtube Protest group!

get a PS3. it has castle crashers, and you wont constantly have to play for it.

well it depends wat kind of game u like but i find ps3 is better cuz not only u get to online for free and also u can get more stuff from it than the 360 and if u really want to get a 360 ps3 has castle crasher too

yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
